Benjamin "Ben" Andrew Wheeler
September 12, 2006 ~ December 14, 2012
Benjamin's bell is B5. When B5 rings, we remember an irrepressibly bright and spirited boy whose love of fun, and excitement at the wonders of life and the world, could rarely be contained. His rush to experience life was headlong, creative and immediate.
Benjamin, known as Ben to those who knew him, was a compassionate, energetic little boy. He had a constant sparkle in his eye, and a slight streak of mischief in him. He loved his big brother Nate, and together they filled the house with the noise of 4 children.
Benjamin had a thirst for knowledge and experience, and a bit of shyness which would come out from time to time. He was curious and loved attention. Ben could never sit still, so being able to sit still long enough to play the piano at his recital was a real accomplishment. He was gifted, and had great plans to use his gifts for this world. Ben's little gap-toothed grin would light up the room.
Benjamin had great ideas and a great many passions. He came from a musical family, and therefore loved music. He had perfect pitch, and loved to hear the music around him. He played piano with his brother, and his parents even made a lullaby CD for him when he was born.
Benjamin enjoyed being part of the local boy scouts troop. He had 2 aspirations for the future: to be an architect, and also to be a paleontologist because "That's what Nate is going to be, and I want to do everything Nate does." Ben loved being active, especially through soccer and swimming. He loved the number 7 train to Sunnyside, Queens, and playing with legos. One of his biggest passions was lighthouses. He loved the tall towers that stood by the sea, and his life shone brightly just like the lighthouses he loved.
Benjamin was inquisitive, opinionated, and kind. He was a beautiful little boy who filled his family's life with light. He led a life filled with happiness, and was brimming with energy and spunk.
Benjamin will never be forgotten. A bell for Benjamin will always ring at Christmas.
