Olivia "Liv or Livie" Rose Engel
July 18, 2006 ~ December 14, 2012
Olivia's bell is A6. When A6 rings, we remember a bright-eyed, precocious, and completely endearing 6-year-old who laughed often and lit up rooms. No one smiled like Olivia Engel. “Beautiful” and “innocent” are the words repeatedly used to describe her.
Olivia excelled in a variety of pursuits – from swimming and ballet to hip-hop dance lessons. In a statement, Olivia’s family said she was also a tennis player, enjoyed soccer, had a passion for musical theatre, and was involved with the Daisy Girl Scouts. Her favorite colors were purple and pink, and her favorite stuffed animal was a little lamb.
Olivia loved school and did well in math and reading. She took art classes, loved craft projects, and had a creative spark for drawing and designing things. She was described as “a great big sister who was always very patient with her 3-year-old brother, Brayden.” At her parish, she was just learning her rosary, and she led grace at the dinner table every night.
“She had perfect manners, perfect table manners. She was the teacher’s pet, the line leader,” Dan Merton, a family friend, told a local news station.
Her family acknowledged, “Her physical loss will be felt every day by those who loved her most, but her sparkly spirit will live on.”
Olivia will never be forgotten. A bell for Olivia will always ring at Christmas.
