Playground Celebrating the Life of Olivia Rose Engel

On August 2nd, 2013 the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Olivia Engel playground took place in Manasquan, New Jersey.
The Manasquan playground  is located on Sea Watch beach and is the seventh park created for the Where Angels Play Foundation. Olivia loved spending days at the beach, which is why this beachside location was chosen for her playground.

This new park was a gift to the community and helped replace the old one which was washed away during the brutal storm, hurricane Sandy. The ribbon cutting ceremony for this park was as heartfelt as the park itself. The ceremony included the release of 26 Chinese lanterns and 126 butterflies over the ocean.

Water, boating, and spending days at the beach were a few of Olivia Engel's favorite things, making Manasquan the perfect location to honor the late 6-year-old. Olivia was a child who adored butterflies, dragonflies and the ocean and her playground showcases her love for butterflies.

Shannon Engel spoke of her daughter. “We are so honored to have Olivia’s memory live on in such a special way,” she said, “on the beach and the sand and in the sun, a place Olivia would have loved.”
