Playground Celebrating the Life of Catherine Violet Hubbard
The Catherine Hubbard Playground was built in Ansonia, Connecticut in honor of Catherine Hubbard, a 6 year old girl at Sandy Hook Elementary School. The ribbon cutting took place on May 31st, 2013. The playground showcases Catherine’s love for animals and her favorite colors, pink and purple.
Ansonia Park is the third park created for the Where Angels Play Foundation. Since it’s completion the park has served as a wonderful play space for the students of the Prendergast School in Ansonia, giving all the school students a place to play. The parks placement was meaningful and played a big part in bringing hope back to the Ansonia community after hurricane Sandy.

Catherine's brother, Frederick Hubbard, 8, left, hands animal crackers to kids as they enjoyed the slide for the first time. The cookies were in honor of Catherine's love and concern for animals.

A beautiful garden was created in Catherine's memory. Names of the Sandy Hook Elementary School victims are written on the colorful butterflies. The flowers are pink and purple, Catherine's favorite colors. A flowering plum tree stands in the center. A poem, "The Butterfly," specially written by David Snitzer, was inscribed on a plaque placed in the garden.
