Playground Celebrating the Life of Jessica Adrienne Rekos
The Jessica Rekos Playground was opened on September 14th, 2013 and is located on Penfield Beach in Fairfield, Connecticut. The Fairfield Beach playground is the ninth playground created for the Where Angels Play Foundation and is the first of the Sandy Ground sites to feature a bell bearing an inscription from “It’s a Wonderful Life:” “Every time a bell rings, an angel gets its wings.” The bell was made by the same company that produced the prop for the movie.
The Fairfield playground reflects Jessica's favorite colors, pink and teal, and her love of horses and Orca whales. The inspiration and location of this playground came from Jessica’s love for orca whales and because Jessica's mother, Krista, is a graduate of Fairfield University and has close ties to the community.
