Sandy Hook victims mourned for lives cut short

The parents of the 6-year-old redhead with a wide-smile and freckles issued a statement Sunday expressing their profound grief over her death.

"We are greatly saddened by the loss of our beautiful daughter, Catherine Violet and our thoughts and prayers are with the other families who have been affected by this tragedy," Jennifer and Matthew Hubbard said in the statement.

"We appreciate the overwhelming support from our community that we have received over the past 24 hours," they said. "We have no further statement to make at this time and ask that we be afforded the opportunity to grieve with our friends and family.

"We ask that you continue to pray for us and the other families who have experienced loss in this tragedy."
