The Emilie Parker Art Connection

"Art was Emilie’s outlet and her joy, and we want to be able to provide that same opportunity to those who wish to express themselves in a similar way. As parents of a child who loved to express herself through art in its many forms, we have seen firsthand how difficult it can be to find proper avenues to develop that passion. Art programs are few and far between and usually suffer the first hit when budgets are cut. It is easy to sign your children up for a multitude of soccer, basketball and baseball leagues, but difficult to find programs to teach ceramics, watercolor and abstract art.

"As Emilie’s parents, we are striving to honor our daughter by continuing to support the things that she loved. Emilie was an exceptional artist, and we enjoyed watching her as she expressed her creativity, love, excitement and her true self through art. We want to celebrate Emilie’s passion by supporting the arts with funding for programs in the community and schools."

An UNSEEN ANGEL
A Mother’s Story of Faith, Hope, and Healing
By Alissa Parker

Emilie's family also has a website titled, "The Parker Five" where you can purchase the book, "An Unseen Angel." This is the first book about the Sandy Hook school shooting tragedy with a focus on faith and spirituality. It takes readers through Alissa’s complete journey, chronicling the moment-by-moment account of the day that began with every parent’s worst nightmare: hearing “There’s been a shooting at your child’s school.” And it follows her faith-filled, spiritual path to coping, healing, forgiving and eventually feeling gratitude for the life and love of her daughter Emilie.

As we learn Alissa’s story, we are introduced to a special little girl who was wise beyond her years and whose lessons about life and the transcendent power of love continued even after she had passed away.
